Legendary Basketball Player Kobe Bryant Dies in Helicopter Crash With 5 Other Passengers On Board.

Today was a tragic day in sports history. Basketball great Kobe Bryant, and his 13 year old daughter were among 5 people who passed away in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Kobe Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his oldest daughter, Gianna Bryant. Kobe has a history of traveling via helicopter as this was a usual mode of transportation. The world wide proclaimed ‘Black Mamba’ who became the youngest player to enter the NBA straight out of high school won 5 NBA titles in his career. He also won 2 Olympic gold medals playing for the United States.

 

Fellow team mate Shaquille O’Neal who won 4 titles with Kobe posted on Instagram “There’s no words to express the pain I’m going through now with this tragic and sad moment of losing my friend, my brother, my partner in winning Championships, my dude, and my homie.”

 

The 6 foot 6 small forward who was born in Philadelphia, PA the youngest of 3 children and only son of former NBA player Joe Bryant. He attended Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania where he was recognized as the top high school basketball player in the country. He was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick. The Hornets eventually traded him to the Lakers where he made sports history with the Franchise. He has had big marketing deals, several million dollar endorsements, his own sneaker, and became the youngest player in league history to reach 30,000 career points.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that an S-76 helicopter crashed Sunday morning, roughly 30 miles of Northwest Los Angeles with 5 passengers total on board. “We are stunned and devastated by the news of the sudden passing of Kobe Bryant”, the National Basketball Association said in a statement earlier today. He was a true King on and off the court. Kobe Bryant is survived by his wife Vanessa Bryant, and his two youngest daughters. He will be surely missed and is highly respected.
