*Halima Aden* ‘First Black Woman In Hijab To Grace Cover Of Essence Magazine’.

Congratulations to Halima Aden for breaking further history today, and pushing the bar as the first Woman of Color to grace Essence Magazine in her hijab. The fashion model who is also a Muslim fashion model is featured on their upcoming January 2020 issue. She is signed to the IMG modeling agency. She has also been featured in several other prominent publications including the cover of Allure and Vogue. The refugee turned super model has surpassed major milestones, and moved to the state of Minnesota at the age of 6. For some of us who may remember she was the beauty who also graced the cover of Sports Illustrated in a burkini and a hijab, earlier this year. It’s refreshing and transcending to see the progressive forwardness in marketing and advertisements.

“Ahhh!! My first cover of 2020 and it’s for

!! A huge thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly on this historic 50th anniversary cover, I’m so thankful to be the first black hijab wearing woman to be featured on Essence!”
