Gangsta Boo Memories

Interviews
Drumma Boy, gangsta boo, la chat

Gangsta Boo’s recent passing hit close to home for me. She and I had a solid working relationship, especially during her endeavors with the late DJ Speakerfoxxx. Boo was an extremely instrumental part of my career as a rap music journalist / A&R.

Our most recent conversation was about a month ago and she gave me some sage advice, “say less.” So according to her instructions I will keep this brief. Gangsta Boo was a legend and will always be remembered as a Queen.

See below for a look back at some exclusive Gangsta Boo content from my personal archives + listen to the classic mixtape hosted by Drumma Boy and Gangsta Boo coordinated by myself, Traps N Trunks, and Trapaholics:

More about Tipp:

When telling her story, Tipp can either speak about her troubled past or talk about her

successful music career and for the budding music artist, she’s more interested in sharing the

latter. Despite the challenges she’s experienced in life, Tipp’s focus remains on creating music

for her fans to enjoy and in the ten years that she’s dabbled in the craft, she’s just getting

started.

Tipp is an artist who represents the Eastside of Atlanta and has a sound that is inspired by her

Southern roots. Her music is best described as a vibe and with one listen, you’ll definitely agree.

She recently caught the attention of mega producer Drumma Boy who’s aiding the artist with

production on her newest single “Coming Home”. The single is a blend of Drumma Boy’s layered production and the rising talent’s uniquely crafted sound and acts as a testimony of what can happen when you stay the course. Tipp has triumphed against being both robbed and shot, and with her impending 13-month jail sentence, she’s sure to come out on top with even more

experiences to share in her music.

Tipp has blazed her own path in the industry, one that is riddled by her many trials and tribulations, but it’s her success story that she hopes her fans can relate to while bringing a fresh, new perspective to the industry.

Drumma Boy, spark dawg

Texas rapper Spark Dawg (@sparkdawgmusic #TheHoodDentist) has joined efforts with Drumma Boy for the creation of his upcoming album. Drumma Boy is set to executive produce the project which will focus on Spark as a solo artist. In preparation for the release, Spark Dawg premiered his new video for “Trill A** N!gga” produced by Drumma Boy & Questionizer and shot by D Castro. Read more about his history and current endeavors below.

Where are you from originally? Where are you located now?

I was born in Panama (Central America) and raised in Texas. I recently moved to ATL.

How did you get your start in music?

I used to be in a rap group discovered by Texas rap legend Scarface called Green City. Now I’m working on a solo album executive produced by Drumma Boy.

https://youtu.be/XhqAxBiZHw8

How would you describe your sound?

Lyrically Southern.

Which songs are you most known for?

“Love, Lust & Heartache” featuring July2Fly. It’s probably my biggest song with over 200k views on YouTube to-date.

What music did you like growing up? Who are you currently listening to?

Growing up I’ve always like Wayne. Nowadays I listen to pretty much anything Drake drops.

What are the most important things you want to let fans know about right now?

I need the fans to know my upcoming album KILL E.E.N. is gonna be one of the best albums ever out together.

Do you have any collaborations and/or have you performed with any known artists/producers?

When I first jumped in the game it was important for me to collab with as many big name artists as possible. I’ve been on songs with everyone from Big Sean to Paul Wall. But on this upcoming project I really just wanted to focus on putting out the best music i could create without worrying about having too many outside features.

What do you love most about making music?

I love the fact that I can create music that everyone around me loves. The goal is the get the music out to as many new potential fans as possible because the music I’m putting out is undeniably dope.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I definitely see myself thumbing through millions & expanding my gold grill business as #TheHoodDentist

Is there anything else you want to mention before we go?

I need the world to know that when I’m not in the booth rappin’ my ass off, I’m puttin gold and diamonds in people’s mouth as #TheHoodDentist.

Speaking of Tennessee rappers dropping bombs, Memphis heavy hitter Duke Deuce blessed us with Duke Nukem featuring Mulatto, A$AP Ferg, Young Dolph, Offset and more. If he was aiming to set the internet on fire, mission accomplished. Like the intro says, Duke is “Coming Out Hard” on the Quality Control roster. Sy Ari Da Kid – It’s Not You, It’s Me

Sy Ari Da Kid - It's Not You It's Me

Sy Ari Da Kid granted us a deep-diving look into his personal life just in time for Valentine’s Day 2021. The album premiere last month was a follow up to June’s A Toxic Heartbreak. It’s Not You, It’s Me continues the theme of roller coaster relationships and jilted lovers. The witty punchlines and satirical humor Sy is known for are prominent throughout the project as Sy makes light of stalkers and bad karma. Maybe Da Kid is just misunderstood, but his music perfectly communicates what’s it’s like being a man in pursuit of his dream. Highlights: “I Hope You See This From Your Fake Page” ft. Natra Average, “It’s Not You, It’s Me”, “For Sade”, “Before She Kills Us Both”, “Daddy Issues” ft. Trouble.
