“Judas and the Black Messiah: The Inspired Album” is executive produced by Hit Boy.

The highly anticipated release is one of many collaborations including G Herbo, Lil Durk, Black Thought, Rakim, A$AP Rocky, Dom Kennedy, Polo G, and more. “Where there’s people, there’s power” is the underlining theme behind the musical work in hopes of informing and inspiring today’s generation. Check out the first single from the album, a posthumous anthem with the late Nipsey Hussle along side Jay Z.

Inspired by true events, “Jesus and the Black Messiah” stars Oscar nominee Daniel Kayuula as Fred Hampton.

The film centers on the life of Fred Hampton about a year before he was assassinated in 1969 in Chicago. He was 21 years old when he was murdered by the Chicago police after being identified as a radical threat by the FBI. He was the leader of the Illinois Black Panther Party. The film also stars Martin Sheen as FBI director J. Edgar Hoover as William O’neal plays the Judas of the title. The film is available in theaters and on HBO Max.

Colin Kaepernick’s Girlfriend Nessa Diab Speaks “Jay Z Let the NFL Use Him”.

The social media world has been buzzing for the past 72 hours about Hip Hop mogul, Jay Z’s recent business deal with the NFL. The Roc Nation CEO closed a entertainment deal which includes him being in charge of the Super Bowl halftime show. Many people are calling the ‘Money Ain’t a Thing’ rapper a big fat hypocrite for working with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Which also makes the story even more peculiar is the fact that Jay Z didn’t manage to get free agent football player Colin Kaeperncik picked up by a team. In fact sources say that Jay Z didn’t even speak to Colin before the deal was signed. With so much going on the world regarding police brutality, and even the recent events with the Eric Garner case, the NFL has stood silent time and time again on issues arising in the Black community. It will be interesting to see in which way Jay Z signing acts for the Super Bowl halftime show, will help with police brutality on innocent Black men.

With the recent discoveries, it’s no surprise that the football player’s girlfriend, Nessa Diab has spoken out on her social media account about her feelings on the matter. She did not appreciate Jay Z’s new deal with the NFL, and she criticized the rapper for working with the same people who tried to ‘bury’ her boyfriend for kneeling during the National Anthem, to bring awareness to police brutality in the community. With the new deal under way, Collin still has yet to be picked up by a team and Jay Z’s pockets just got a little fatter. Read what Nessa had to say below. What do you think about the situation? Is Jay Z a hypocrite for signing with the league?

This is what she had to say. “We will never turn our backs on @kaepernick7 because your idols decided to work with the same organization that is actively keeping Colin unemployed all because he peacefully protested against social injustice in black and brown communities, specifically police brutality. So really, how can Jay-Z and the NFL utter social justice in their partnership while keeping Colin unemployed because of his social justice work?

“It’s typical for the NFL to buy different PR looks to cover up their dirt-that’s nothing new. But what is disgusting and disappointing is Jay-Z let them use him. Whether Jay-Z knew it or not (I don’t doubt his intelligence-so I would think he knew) he helped the NFL bury who he said is an iconic figure, Colin Kaepernick.
“Don’t tell me there’s a ‘master plan and wait for it’ because the ONLY reason anything would ever change is because THE PEOPLE are loud and clear and won’t let the league buy their loyalty with their disingenuous moves. The people are letting the league and anyone who works with them know that they aren’t buying the bs.

Happy Birthday American Gangster!!

JAY-Z’s tenth studio album American Gangster was originally released November 6, 2007.

It’s not difficult to see how Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter would see parallels between himself and Frank Lucas, the “self-made” kingpin who ruled atop the United States’ drug empire during the 1970s as depicted in the film American Gangster. Jigga came up under O.G.s like Big Daddy Kane and Jaz, only to see them get jerked by the industry. Along with Dame Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, he built his own empire in the form of Roc-A-Fella Records, and achieved so much success that he in effect ended up “ruling” rap music. However, unlike Lucas, JAY-Z did manage “to quit while he was ahead,” enjoy his brief “retirement,” and served as President of Def Jam Records, the label that agreed to distribute Roc-A-Fella and helped launch his career into the stratosphere. But before long, he returned to his recording career to reassert his dominance.

JAY-Z officially returned from his self-imposed hiatus with Kingdom Come (2006), his first attempt to spend the majority of an album tackling “mature” subjects. He talked about his personal growth as he lived and worked through his thirties, the issues he faced as a rich Black man in the United States, beefs he had with various rappers, and social issues facing Black people throughout the country.

Though Kingdom Come initially sold well and was generally well-received, the album ranks in the lower half of his discography. Most of the singles still hold up, and other tracks feature JAY rhyming with renewed hunger. However, Kingdom Come also features some of the worst songs in his entire catalogue (see “Anything” with Usher and “Hollywood” with Beyoncé). He quickly bounced back, released his tenth solo album American Gangster less than a year later. A decade after its release, it’s still the best “post-retirement” album by JAY-Z, and probably in the top three or four albums that he’s ever recorded.

This was also JAY-Z’s attempt to re-assert himself as one of the top artists in hip-hop. Just a couple of months before his “little brother” Kanye West released Graduation on Def Jam, and was basking in the glow of its massive success. Fortunately, JAY-Z didn’t try to emulate Kanye’s sound, opting to return to his roots, spinning vivid tracks about dealing drugs over soulful loops. Except this time, he focused it through the prism of the American Gangster film.
