Gangsta Boo by Ms Rivercity

Gangsta Boo Memories

Drumma Boy, gangsta boo, la chat

Gangsta Boo’s recent passing hit close to home for me. She and I had a solid working relationship, especially during her endeavors with the late DJ Speakerfoxxx. Boo was an extremely instrumental part of my career as a rap music journalist / A&R.

Our most recent conversation was about a month ago and she gave me some sage advice, “say less.” So according to her instructions I will keep this brief. Gangsta Boo was a legend and will always be remembered as a Queen.

See below for a look back at some exclusive Gangsta Boo content from my personal archives + listen to the classic mixtape hosted by Drumma Boy and Gangsta Boo coordinated by myself, Traps N Trunks, and Trapaholics:

AAP Deno

It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for. The ones that couldn’t care less about attention, but always seem to be the center of it all.

“I didn’t ask for any of this,” says AAP Deno in reference to his current come up within the music industry. “Everybody just always said I looked like a rapper, and made moves like a rapper, when really I was just being me, A.A.P, About A Profit.”

Even through his conversations, his nonchalance makes the loudest statement.

“l’m not trying to be the flashiest. I can honestly give a f-‘ck less. I just want the people to know life is a constant journey, and it’s all about the choices you make. Everything you see me with, is based upon a choice I n1ade. It’s that simple,” says the 24 year old.

Growing up with both parents in Arlington, Texas, yet in separate households, Deno experienced both sides of the playing field as his dad was forced to teach him the ins and outs of the street life.
It was these lessons that fueled Deno’s hustle, eventually leading him to bet on himself and make a move to Los Angeles. Within his first two weeks of living in California, his willingness to risk it all for the bigger picture attracted the CEO of Birdvision Entertainment, who signed Deno soon after.

“I have a lot of stories to tell,” says Deno, “and the difference between me and others is- they’re not stories. They’re my real life experiences.”

His life experiences are what have contributed to the moniker “Superdave”, The Hood Role Model, which is also the title of Deno’s upcoming debut. “I want my music to inspire people. I want the listeners to understand no circumstance is permanent. It’s all about what you do with what you’re dealt”, says Deno.

The release of his freshman single “For tha Birds,” a hard-hitting dance floor bop that features a smooth, but high energy track coupled with Deno’s confident flow has caught the attention of fans and record execs alike. His versatile, yet distinct style helps to ensure his destiny as a superstar. After listening to his music, one will see that Deno has a much bigger purpose than the average artist. He’s vividly painting pictures, not only allowing the listener to hear where he’s coming from, but literally see and feel where he’s coming from. It’s more than just music that he’s creating. It’s a legacy.

Catch AAP Deno on Rude Girl Radio at 1pm ET on the Rude Girl Radio app.
